A great deal has been written about the two-month coma that pianist and composer Fred Hersch endured during a year of calamitous health problems; now, Hersch transforms eight dreams recalled from that experience into a multimedia stage work directed by Herschel Garfein, with animations and designs by Sara Wickliffe. Presented two years ago in Montclair, New Jersey, My Coma Dreams finally comes to Manhattan under the auspices of Columbia University's Program in Narrative Medicine.
