One of the city's most compelling repertory bands, Ideal Bread surveys the koanlike compositions of the late soprano saxist Steve Lacy with just the right combination of reverence and edginess. Here, the group headlines an event celebrating the 30th anniversary of its label, venerable prog-oriented Maryland imprint Cuneiform. Two other bands from the roster round out the bill: eclectic, hard-swinging little big band the Microscopic Septet and trombonist-composer Curtis Hasselbring's Number Stations band, which offers a winning blend of freewheeling whimsy and brainy intricacy.
