Jim Black Residency

A drummer whose idiosyncratic groove and sensitive touch have animated many a memorable downtown unit, Jim Black comes to the fore as a bandleader during a weeklong Stone residency. But we won't lie, we're stoked by the two reunions that start his stint. Tonight, Black joins Tim Berne, Chris Speed and Mike Formanek under an auspcious name, Not Bloodcount, and on Wed 26, Black regroups with guitarist Ben Monder and bassist Ben Street in Monder's efficiently labeled Trio ’97.
