Kris Davis's Infrasound

Local pianist Kris Davis delivers bold, intricate, inside-out jazz marked by an appealing restlessness. Here, she follows up a stellar 2013—marked, respectively, by standout quintet and solo releases, Capricorn Climber and Massive Threads—by presenting a new project with the striking instrumentation of four bass clarinets plus guitar, accordion, organ and drums. "I aimed for Infrasound to explore the low end of the spectrum," says Davis of the group, "creating a living, breathing wild animal."
