And you thought Adele was good… Michael Kiwanuka is a young British soul singer whose honeyed pipes and warm way with melody will stop you in your tracks, especially if you're a fan of such veteran soulsters as Terry Callier. Beloved by Mumford & Sons (he's signed to Ben Lovett's Communion label), the musician plays his first New York show tonight, in support of debut album Home Again. Opening is Bahamas, a.k.a. Afie Jurvanen, erstwhile guitarist for Feist, whose recent Barchords album is quite delicious; had this music a genre, that genre would be mellow-choly.
