Miike Snow + Penguin Prison

Time Out says

Last month this superstylish electropop outfit played Music Hall of Williamsburg following gigs at SXSW; this week it returns to New York direct from California, where Miike Snow did Coachella alongside David Guetta and Bon Iver. As it happens, those two acts neatly bookend the sound of Happy to You, Miike Snow’s just-released sophomore disc, on which singer Andrew Wyatt works his breathy white-soul croon over beats buffed to a gleam by Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg (otherwise known as the Swedish production duo Bloodshy & Avant). Nothing on the disc replicates the earworm effect of the band’s 2009 hit “Animal.” But it’s still rich with off-kilter details, none more appealing than the strangely seductive way Wyatt sings the word archipelago in a song of that name.—Mikael Wood

Don't miss Penguin Prison's (real name Chris Glover) disco-pop gems, which sound like a bubblier version of LCD Soundsystem.
