Consistently one of New York's most adventurous and compelling woodwind improvisers, Ned Rothenberg has turned increasingly to formal composition in the past few years. This weeklong Stone residency will showcase numerous facets of his work: freewheeling improv with Peter Evans, Zeena Parkins and Marc Ribot on June 18; acoustic funk with Sync on June 19; collusions with non-Western instruments on June 20; a duo with John Zorn and a quartet with Ray Anderson on June 21; improv encounters on June 22; and chamber music on June 23.
