Proof positive that no iconic jazz album is resistant to tribute-band treatment, Ornette Coleman's freewheeling 1960 manifesto Free Jazz is celebrated in a live rendition by an octet scarcely less star-studded than Coleman's original aggregation: saxophonists Joe Lovano and Jaleel Shaw; trumpeters Jeremy Pelt and Tim Hagans; bassists Ben Allison and Lonnie Plaxico; and drummers Billy Drummond and Matt Wilson.
