Husky voiced, lively Brazilian singer Preta Gil is the daughter of famed musician Gilberto Gil, though her father was exiled while she was growing up. She's something of a celeb back home, unafraid of controversy (her first album featured nude photos in the artwork), and she hosts a talk show about sex, Come and Go (cough!). Tonight she performs at this outdoor SummerStage Brazilian bonanza, right before a screening of the animated film Rio 2096: A Story of Love and Fury, part of the 11th Brazilian Film Festival of New York. Gaspar Muniz deejays.
