Time Out Ratings :Rating: 4/5
Where exactly does Sia fit in? The Aussie singer's vibrant soul-pop isn't weird enough to win her Bjrk's alt-diva status, but her mildly unhinged persona seems too peculiar for even a Gaga-primed mainstream. On her fifth full-length she's aiming for the dance club, and several tracks here—most notably the flawless disco rave-up "You've Changed"— definitely hit that target. But the album impresses most when the singer flaunts her muscular, versatile pipes, as on "Never Gonna Leave Me," during which she moves from a soulful croon to a punky belt.
Several other hits-in-waiting (including the breathtaking "Cloud") counterbalance a handful of flat tracks, confirming that the singer is doing just fine carving her own niche.
Sia plays Terminal 5 Thu 6.
