As a founding member of Buffalo Springfield (which reunited in 2010) and Poco, Richie Furay was one of the original exponents of California country-rock, before the genre descended into blandness. The veteran singer—who since the early '80s has served as a pastor in a Colorado church—still possesses the bittersweet high-lonesome voice that distinguished his work with those bands. Unlike many of his peers, he's avoided the temptation to contemporize his approach, so his classics retain their twangy warmth when he performs them now. Here, he supports Hand in Hand, a new disc harking back to that old sound.
