There's a big difference between inorganic all-star bands, cobbled together to boost sales, and actual collectives like this one—focused, well-rehearsed, consistently creative units in which everyone's a leader. The reliably world-class band currently includes saxophonists David Sanchez and Miguel Zenón, trumpeter Avishai Cohen, trombonist Robin Eubanks, pianist Edward Simon, vibist Stefon Harris, bassist Matt Penman and drummer Obed Calvaire. As in its last visit, the band concentrates here on music by Chick Corea, plus original tunes by its members.
