South Carolina duo Shovels & Rope comprises raspy-voiced singer-guitarist Cary Ann Hearst and drummer Michael Trent—a married couple that sounds a little like Bonnie Raitt fronting the White Stripes. Last year, the pair released its debut album, O' Be Joyful, and tonight it headlines Webster Hall in the company of Austin song man Alejandro Rose-Garcia as the buzzy Shakey Graves, whose lovely debut, Roll the Bones, has received no small amount of attention thanks to its intricate, unshowy fingerpicked melodies.
