Michael Gira's reconstituted Swans—one of the most formidably intense bands of the ’80s—present latest album The Seer, which marries the lurching bombast of the group's early work with the goth-folk atmospherics of frontman Gira's later work with Angels of Light. Quality support comes from sweet-voiced folkie Marissa Nadler on Wed 6, while Thu 7 has the fabulous Devendra Banhart—who recorded for head Swan Michael Gira’s Young God label long before he became an indie-rock household name. Banhart is set to release his new album, Mala, on Nonesuch in March (lest you were wondering, we've heard it and it's exquisite).
