Cabaret Showdown
Under St. Marks , East Village Sunday February 10 2013 18:30

Know how your pals always seem to sign you up to sing karaoke songs you only vaguely know? (Yes, “American Pie” does have that many verses.) So does The Cabaret Showdown, dropping contestants into mystery songs that

fit the month’s theme. Tonight, they’ll be asked to croon classics (Tony, Ella and Frank) as well as translate modern pop tunes into Great American Songbook standards. The winner gets their own night at the venue—catch the champ of last month’s rock & roll edition, Joan Estep, during a 5:30pm set ($10). At 9:30pm, a tournament of past champions takes over ($10).
