The Growlers are one of the growing number of California bands that play modern psychedelic music informed by their locale, but without a whiff of the reputed L.A. cheesiness, favoring instead the West Coast's hippie-dippy looseness. At its best, the band invokes a smoking late-’60s beach party. Just what we need this January, come to think of it.
