The New Standards
The New Standards, a Minnesota chamber-punk trio, takes songs you may have been too stoned to fully appreciate in the past (like Beck’s “The New Pollution,” Roxy Music’s “Oh Yeah” and Mott the Hoople’s “All the Young Dudes”) and lays their poetry bare in a stark acoustic setting of piano, vibes and drums. Onstage these men are all business, but they haven’t lost their belligerence; with their tales of dimming youth and hope, they speak for every modern-day automaton who’s struggling to feel.

Absolutely love The New Standards. Their cover of "Maps" by the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs makes me choke up every time I hear it. They make you hear songs you've known forever in completely different ways, from the Clash to Sam Cooke. If you have the opportunity to hear them, don't miss it. You won't be disappointed. These guys are style and musicianship, humor and heart... Check out their song "Call Your Boyfriend" on youtube. You'll be sold.
