The Spring Quartet

We're happy to see that unlike many all-star jazz combos, this one—featuring drummer Jack DeJohnette, saxist Joe Lovano, bassist Esperanza Spalding and pianist Leo Genovese—isn't built around any clever thematic hook. Given the strong bonds already in place among Lovano, Spalding and Genovese, we're expecting a deeply empathetic connection. And DeJohnette? Well, he's long since proved that he can make musical magic with just about anyone.
