Ticket alert: My Morning Jacket and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band

The groups unite for a Hurricane Sandy benefit concert next month.

We’ll have to wait until tonight’s 12-12-12 show to see if Sir Paul does, in fact, stand in for Kurt Cobain alongside the rest of Nirvana. (Here’s a handy list of how to catch this evening’s broadcast.) But some other cool Sandy-related music news dropped today (wait, is cool the right word to describe the Nirvana reunion rumors?): The jammy rock heroes in My Morning Jacket and New Orleans’ famed (and really fun) Preservation Hall Jazz Band are teaming up for a benefit gig at New Jersey’s Paramount Theater along the Asbury Park boardwalk. Tickets for the January 2 show go on sale this Friday at noon.
