Formed by avant-jazz visionary Anthony Braxton as a prodigious large ensemble capable of handling anything he could throw at it—from intricate improv to rigorously conceived compositions—the Tri-Centric Orchestra graduates to its next phase: providing a vehicle for other composers to express their biggest notions. Tonight, the group presents the world premiere of Braxton's Composition 27, from 1973, plus new pieces by Taylor Ho Bynum, Ingrid Laubrock and Mark Taylor. Tomorrow, come back for new small-ensemble pieces by Steve Lehman and Chris Jonas.
