On record, VHS or Beta plays a somewhat paint-by-numbers style of dance-punk (fronted by a tonal facsimile of Robert Smith) that sounds overproduced for punk, underproduced for disco and insipid for both genres. That said, the Kentucky band's live show is usually right on target. Tonight you'll hear tunes from across all three albums, including 2011's Diamonds and Death. In support, New York sextet Linfinity plays limber, bluesy indie rock. Tickets for this show are free, just R.S.V.P. to avclub.com/ruckustour/agegate.
