Get the chance to exchange a few words with Spike Lee this afternoon at Barnes & Noble Union Square. (Tip: Avoid bringing up your adoration of Tyler Perry if you want to keep things civil.) The outspoken director stops by the bookstore for a signing to promote the DVD release of his latest effort, If God Is Willing and da Creek Don't Rise, a follow-up to his touching post-Katrina doc, When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts. He'll sign stuff from throughout his career, too—so don't be nervous about towing along that Criterion edition of Do the Right Thing (5--6:30pm; free).
