Axl Rose is the heavy-metal equivalent of a really weird cockroach: He's never going to die, and there's nothing you can do about it. With every year, there's a new—sometimes dubious—page in the book of his legacy. Another dubious hairstyle. Another hypertechnical, "good idea in theory, boring in execution" stab at replacing former GNR lead guitarist Slash. Same former Replacements bassist. Still, it seems like Axl got a substantial monkey off his back with the 2008 release of the band's long-in-the-works opus Chinese Democracy, a surprisingly good stab at rebranding GNR to incorporate a whole host of influences, some ill-advised, some surprisingly transcendent. Last night Rose and his revolving cast of supporting players took the stage at Izod Center, and our photographer Jon Klemm was there to capture the action.
