Relax here: Architecture in Tibet talk at T Salon
Wed Feb 24 2010
Tonight, Chelsea Market's T Salon (Chelsea Market, 459 W 15th St between Ninth and Tenth Aves; 212-243-0432, tsalon.com; 6--8pm) entices you with a free in-store tea tasting, followed by a presentation by nonprofit group Architecture in Tibet.
The organization hopes to introduce attendees to its current project—building a new academic center for the Manjushree Orphanage in the Indian town of Tawang—in a relaxed environment. A short film screening will begin at 6pm. Afterward, president John Ullman will talk about his trip to the Himalayas as a volunteer at a separate orphanage in 2007—peep some of his photos at the AFT website (be warned: the kids are really cute).
Fittingly, the well-stocked T Salon carries two blends of Tibetan tea worth trying: Tibetan Tiger (chocolate, butterscotch, caramel and vanilla) and Sunrise in Tibet (mandarin and chocolate), both available in black and green. Even if they're not included in the tasting, we'd take them both home—the second one sounds like Terry's Chocolate Orange in a cup!
