Relax here: Free yoga, fancy condos
Thu Mar 4 2010
Real-estate hunting can be stressful, but it's a little more relaxing when free yoga is involved. Enjoy this well-balanced combo tonight at Toren, a 38-story Myrtle Avenue condo tower that's been generating serious buzz since initial renderings hit the blogs in 2008. In addition to the funky black-and-white mottled exterior, palatial swimming pool and pending gold certification by LEED, there is a schmancy new yoga studio that is celebrating its grand opening this week.
Yoga Local (150 Myrtle Ave at Flatbush Ave, Fort Greene, Brooklyn; yogalocal.com) hosts several different kinds of classes (Forrest, kundalini, vinyasa and a weekly meditation session), and first-timers to the studio are being offered one free class anytime during the week. Today, check out vinyasa (7:45--9:15pm), or stop in tomorrow evening for Living Meditation (8--9pm). You might also take a gander at the newly released Yoga Local iPhone app, which gives detailed info on yoga schedules at studios all over the five boroughs. Even if you can't bring yourself to Yoga Local, it will certainly find a way to bring local yoga to you.
