Today's Zen event: $10 meditation class

Work sucks. You want to be home, in bed, with the lights off. We get it. But perhaps a little mind-body-spirit reintegration could finally obliterate those post--Labor Day blahs. Starting this week, you can head down to the Still Mind Zendo Meditation Center (37 W 17th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves, sixth floor; 212-414-3128, stillmindzendo.org) every Wednesday evening for intro qigong/tai chi workshops (6:30--7:45pm), followed by open meditation (8--9pm), for $10. Miranda Maher, an accomplished martial artist, leads the Tao Zen Life (taozenlife.info) class, which teaches a simple, effective sequence of qigong and tai chi movements, as well as breathing techniques. Some of the movements can be extremely subtle; pack a notebook so you can take down the fundamentals and bring them home with you—from your own bedroom, you too can start seeing into the nature of reality.
