    Description
The Union Square Cafe’s art collection and floor-to-ceiling murals have been here as long as the tuna filet mignon has been on the menu. That Eighties throwback, served with a pale green heap of wasabi mashed potatoes, remains hugely popular despite being more dated than a John Hughes movie. Novelty is not what keeps this New York classic packed year after year. Danny Meyer’s first New York restaurant—a pioneer in greenmarket cooking—remains one of the city’s most relaxed fine dining establishments. This past summer, the easy menu, split into classics and seasonal specials, included a bright pancetta-flecked salad of shredded sugar snap peas and a fine flaky filet of wild salmon on a bed of sweet corn.
