On the ground floor of Scandinavia House, the city’s temple of way–Northern European culture, is a seafood-oriented self-serve eatery with upscale Ikea-style decor. Straight-up Swedish food, overseen by Marcus Samuelsson of Aquavit, includes superb gravlax, pickled herring and shrimp-salad sandwiches. Tomato soup (served hot or cold) is really a bouillabaisse of salt-cured cod and crayfish. For landlubbers, the meatballs are outstanding—and you don’t have to buy a coffee table to get them.
