Anchor Punch at Cienfuegos

Anchor Punch at
Punches appear on plenty of cocktail lists, but few are as balanced as this Cuban lounge's elixir. Bracing ginger juice and spiced Seven Tiki rum are melded with apricot brandy, guava juice and nutmeg to create a zippy tropical ambrosia available by the cup or bowl. 443 E 6th St between First Ave and Ave A (212-614-6818, cienfuegosny.com). Cup $13, bowl $114.

Blood and sand at Highlands
You can sample 100-plus Scotches here, but we like the brown stuff best when worked into Highlands' smart, smoky cocktails. This classic is a smooth and citrusy blend of peaty Glenrothes Select Reserve with orange juice, bitters, lemon and cherry Heering. 150--152 W 10th St between Greenwich Ave and Waverly Pl (212-229-2670, highlands-nyc.com). $14.

Seven-spice sour at M Pche
Sweet-sour Japanese yuzu juice is having a moment as a cocktail ingredient, and we can't get enough. This tart and spicy mash-up of the citrus juice—shaken with fiery togarashi-infused honzojo sake, plus squirts of lime and simple syrup—brings to mind a piquant, boozy lemonade, and goes down just as easily. 15 56th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves (212-757-5878, momofuku.com/ma-peche). $12.

Sol with a shot of jalapeo-infused tequila at the Narrows
A beer-and-whiskey twofer pales in comparison to this Art Deco Bushwick bar's double-fisted, South-of-the-Border deal: an icy Sol beer paired with a tequila infused with fiery jalapeo. 1037 Flushing Ave at Morgan Ave, Bushwick, Brooklyn (narrowsbar.com, 281-827-1800). $6.

Dragon's Pearl at Painkiller
This refreshing tiki tipple is a perfect storm of fruit and smoke. Scotch and mescal provide the smolder, nutty coconut cream and pineapple juice offer sweetness, and bitter Campari keeps things balanced. The final textural flourish: crunchy dragon-fruit seeds. 49 Essex St between Grand and Hester Sts (212-777-8454, painkillernyc.com). $14.

Gold Rush at The Lambs Club
Twelve-year-old Elijah Craig bourbon is the brawny, aromatic backbone of this sublime cocktail. Fragrant honey plays up the hooch's sweet notes, while the pucker of fresh-squeezed lemon juice tempers its woody flavor. 132 W 44th St between Sixth Ave and Broadway (212-997-5262, thelambsclub.com). $18.
