Description
This was the first outpost in what is becoming a mini empire for chef Iacopo Falai. And his success isn’t without merit: Who can resist a sexy little Italian joint with a modern menu and beautiful crowd in a happening part of town? Although the portions are on the small side (as is the by-the-glass wine list), the prices are reasonable and the dishes inspired and well executed. The baby octopus is tender and perfectly seasoned; beef medallions are lusciously steaklike, drizzled with a raisin-brunello sauce; and the pork comes with cocoa nubs and fennel seeds. If for no other reason, come for dessert: Falai honed his pastry skills at Le Cirque 2000 and makes a killer passion-fruit soufflé and profiteroles
