Husband-and-wife team Noah Bernamoff and Rae Cohen are bringing their berpopular Montreal-style deli over the bridge: Unlike the Boerum Hill original—where lunch offerings give way to refined Jewish plates in the evening—this East Village spin-off will serve mostly sandwiches. The menu includes old favorites (cured and smoked brisket on rye), new additions (pickled lamb tongue) and seasonal specialties (BLTs), alongside classic homemade sodas. 53 Bond St between Bowery and Lafayette St (212-529-2990, milenddeli.com). Chef Daniel Humm and Will Guidara, the celebrated team behind Eleven Madison Park, turn the music up for their sophomore venture, which features three dining rooms, a bar and a cocktail lounge in the soon-to-open NoMad Hotel. In lieu of a tasting-menu-only format, Humm decided to take a more democratic approach with an la carte menu of seasonal, French-inflected fare, some of which he'll cook in an open hearth. 1170 Broadway at 28th St (thenomadhotel.com). Pok Pok NY
In January, food bloggers breathlessly chronicled the New York opening of Pok Pok Wing, the Southeast Asian takeout joint from Portland's Andy Ricker. In April, the James Beard Award--winning toque will launch a full-fledged outpost of his Oregon flagship. M. Wells Dinette
Food-nerd hearts broke when Hugue Dufour's boundary-busting M. Wells closed in August, but the Quebec native promises a return to form with this venture. The new menu looks as wild as the original: Fresh-ground tartares share space with a "roe bar" featuring uni and caviar. Chef Michael White, who operates fine-dining temples Marea and Ai Fiori, delighted the downtown set when he added boisterous tavern Osteria Morini to his expanding stable of Italian restaurants. At this upcoming 55-seat pizzeria, he takes the casual direction one step further, offering delivery and takeout, sidewalk seating and pitchers of beer. Antipasti, a few homemade pastas and pastry chef Robert Truitt's fior di latte (Italian soft-serve) will also be on the menu. 160 Second Ave at 10th St (212-432-1600). Late March.
