Be sure to try on clothes before you head up to the ninth floor of Barneys, because executive chef Mark Strausman’s food will leave you feeling full, happy and loath to scrutinize your stuffed self in a mirror. Among the most delectable items (in a wide range of offerings) are lobster bisque, roasted salmon and the dessert quintet, a sampler of cakes and other sweets. If you’re determined to count calories, try the celebrated Mark’s Madison Avenue Salad with canned Italian tuna. Fred’s plays host to many a power lunch (the dinner crowd tends to be calmer), so if you’re here for schmoozing, make an afternoon reservation.
