    Description
Star chef Scott Conant has departed this midtown spot and been replaced by Michael White, leaving behind an eatery that still feels slightly austere (bottles of vino are stolidly displayed and sturdy banquettes line the walls), but delivers some surprisingly homey Northern Italian cuisine. Rustic ricotta gnocchi with braised veal shank is elevated by a hint of rosemary and grated Castelmagno cheese, and succulent cuts of aged sirloin match well with sweet slices of eggplant. A $79 prix fixe enables proper sampling of the pricey à la carte menu.
