Description
The noise in this narrow, brick-walled space is usually one level below sheer din, and there’s typically a wait for tables (call ahead for parties of four or more). Still, service is attentive, and the food is hearty, fresh and appealing. Of the standard dips, the tsatsiki (yogurt, cucumber and garlic) and taramasalata (carp roe) are satisfyingly tangy, but the skordalia (potato and garlic) tasted a little like cold mashed potatoes. The hirino (pork) kebab is nicely spiced; the grilled sardines (a special) are soaked in olive oil and lemon. If you’re tired of having to overpay for tasty food, say Uncle.
