The following venues are expected to open by May 28th. Always call ahead, as openings can be delayed.

Claudette New York's French-food revival is alive and well—2014 will see the debut of Keith McNally's Gallic bistro, Cherche Midi; Dirty French, from the blockbuster Torrisi team; and this provençal outfit from Carlos Suarez, who's behind Greenwich Village's splashy Bobo and Rosemary's. Koren Grieveson—who nabbed a James Beard Award for her soulful work at Chicago's Avec—serves as chef de cuisine, collaborating with Rosemary's toque Wade Moises on a Mediterranean-hopping menu laced with North African and Middle Eastern influences. Earthy dishes include ratatouille tarte; za'atar-spiced grilled lamb with yogurt vinaigrette; and a bouillabaisse en croûte with monkfish, baby octopus and rouille. Colorful tagines, employed for dishes like chicken with bulgur and harissa, line the shelves of the rustic space, walled with hand-painted tiles. 24 Fifth Ave at 9th St (212-868-2424)

Holey Donuts! The doughnut Web store goes brick-and-mortar in the West Village, serving low-fat, made-to-order rounds in flavors like Boston cream and coconut cream pie. 101 Seventh Ave South between Barrow and Grove Sts (212-252-3365)

Horchata Top Chef alum Manuel Treviño (Marble Lane) dishes out shareable ceviches, mahi-mahi tacos and a booze-spiked version of the titular drink at this South of the Border spot. 470 Sixth Ave between 11th and 12th Sts (212-243-8226)

Kailash Parbat The Mumbai chain makes its American debut, spotlighting vegetarian Punjabi food and northern Indian specialties such as paneer makhanwala (tomato-based curry gravy). 99 Lexington Ave at 27th St (212-679-4232)

Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream Nicholas Morgenstern (El Rey Coffee Bar and Luncheonette) scoops inventive flavors (sesame-caramel, Brazilian bourbon) at this modern ice cream parlor. 2 Rivington St between Bowery and Chrystie St (212-209-7684)

OvoSodo This neighborhood pizzeria offers build-your-own salads and brick-oven pies like the namesake, topped with mozzarella, bacon and egg. 110-60 Queens Blvd between 70th Rd and 71st Ave, Forest Hills, Queens (718-487-3524)
