Pakistani Tea House

Tribeca
The bright lights and linoleum at this Pakistani eatery may not be sexy, but the alluring fragrance of freshly baked nan and South Asian home cooking is plenty seductive. A mere six bucks buys you any of three saucy dishes, like chicken curry, chicken makhani (butter chicken), saag panir (spinach with cheese) or dal (lentil stew) over rice. But the chicken tikka ($7) is our favorite dish in the house, with meltingly tender pieces of the poultry soaked in a creamy, masala-spiced sauce. Get your order to go and hop into one of the many cabs lined up outside—assuming the driver’s finished his meal.

Oh, unfortunately there can't be a rating without any stars. The worst Indian food I've ever eaten by far. When I received the food, I couldn't figure out what's in it. And trust me, I am an Indian from New Delhi and know my North Indian food really well (I don't have the same expectations from Indian cuisine out here, but this was just amazing !). I was like what the hell is in here! Then when I gathered the courage to dig in, I figured it was chick peas (chholey), spinach (saag) and cauliflower (gobhi matar). Now these are three separate dishes. Guess how they served them? Phenomenal! All in one container completely mixed as s***! I'm apologetic to use that word in the context of food, but this was just a mess. And mind you, this is what they call a "Lamb Combo". Ridiculous! I ordered a "Lamb Combo", and two out of the three dishes I ordered were wrong. To add to this, when I called them up to let them know how badly they had messed up, they argued saying that this is the lamb combo. I mean are they crazy or are they crazy?? And also what's interesting is, they said that a combo is eaten like this...all mixed up like you don't know what you're eating! Basically, they meant...ultimately that's what's going to happen in your stomach....why don't you just gobble it in like that....Lastly, when I asked for a refund, they were like I will have to come and return it or pay the delivery man to have it collected. I was like I've had it.....Folks, sincere piece of advice....stay away from this horrible eatery/restaurant.....the worst experience in my life! I've been ordering food all my life from a myriad places around the globe...never had to experience something like this.
