Tables feast family-style on rotisserie chicken at this local Peruvian-style chain. Along with the slow-roasted bird, offerings include parihuela (Peruvian seafood soup), arroz chaufa (Chinese fried rice), ceviches and corvina Inca (panfried corvina with aji amarillo sauce). Order a pitcher (or three) of red sangria for the table.

If I could, I would eat here nightly. Expertly cooked rotisserie chicken with sauce to swoon over...plus friendly, fast service. Also an excellent option if you want to Netflix and chill (but we mean that literally—this is greasy work, so you won't be getting too far beyond chilling that night).

Pio Pio is one of my all time favorite New York restaurants. Delicious Peruvian fare, laid back vibe, beautiful floor to ceiling windows for lots of natural light. It’s best for family style meals (think: family brunches or large birthday party groups), but still has a nice vibe for a date as long as you two come with a big appetite. Get the Matador Combo to sample what Pio Pio does best: rotisserie chicken. The Matador also comes with mouthwatering salchipapa, requisite rice and beans, and a refreshing avocado salad. The tostones are negligible, but it doesn’t even matter because the rest of the meal is so satisfying. If you’re ordering drinks individually, don’t miss out on getting a pisco sour. For a group, they have great sangria!
