Description
Design touches like a modern chandelier and a distressed concrete wall speak to the seriousness of purpose at this Prospect Heights newcomer. Chef Bryan Calvert’s menu includes beautiful heirloom tomato slices bathed in rich goat-cheese dressing, and golden seared scallops with a corn salad and watercress puree. Though it joins Brooklyn’s new destination-restaurant pantheon, James remains a neighborhood spot, as fine a setting for a meal as it is for a cocktail (try the James’ Revenge—muddled kumquats, Cointreau and rye).
