Of the people, by the people: All three owners are long-term locals, and many residents were enthusiastic helpers during the lengthy construction process. The seating plan at Dumbo’s unofficial HQ is a little funky, as is the mix of china, glass and plastic water tumblers on the tables. But no one quibbles with the organic food or the friendly service. Chef Laura Taylor changes the menu daily: Specials might include tender Australian steak or seared tuna, and there’s always something for vegetarians. Sunday’s bluegrass brunch is a huge hit with all the people.
