What it is: Cold-brew and pour-over enthusiasts might not mind waiting an eternity for their caffeine fix, but those on the go should appreciate the speed of snappy, old-school espresso. The method involves measuring out grinds in a special filter cup (a portafilter) and packing them down with a metal tamper. The cup is then locked into an espresso machine, which forces pressurized water through the grinds and filter basket to produce a rich, dark and concentrated shot meant to be finished in a few quick sips.
