    Description

    Chef Anita Lo is the star, and nothing here distracts from her virtuosic vittles. Servers are poker-faced and the room is stark, with unadorned white walls that tend to amplify loud talkers. Still, all eyes, ears and mouths are focused on the main event: innovative, intensely flavorful food that’s never heavy. Their seafood is inspired—the silken, miso-marinated sablefish, an entrée, is served atop a tofu pillow resting in bonito-flavored soy broth. A spot-on tarte aux pommes with caramel sauce demands that you finish every last flaky bit. You may not warm to the austere atmosphere, but the kitchen will win you over.
