Authentic is not synonymous with serious. Check out the drawings of Tintin at this charming minichain that draws its name from another Continental cartoon favorite, the Little Bee. Locals keep coming back for fresh mussels (all you can eat for $15.95 on Wednesdays) and the three-course prix fixe ($18.95), offered weekdays from 5 to 7pm. Try the vol-au-vent, a chicken stew covered with a puff-pastry lid, or the croque-monsieur, made with cheddar cheese and red onion. At brunch, golden waffles topped with strawberries are authentic, serious fun.

OMG! I had the most delicious dining pleasure at the Petite Abeille West 17th Street location. They've changed their menu for the new season, but the quality remains. Best and most consistently good and affordable food in the city!!
