Quick bite: FoodParc
This futuristic cafeteria takes a few cues from the Jetsons, with a slick space and touch-screen ordering stations that let you mix and match from four different kiosks. Like any food court, the trick lies in deciding what to order, but you can't go wrong with the burger ($6.95) from 3Bs, a juicy hanger-blend LaFrieda patty topped with crispy onions and a Thousand Island--like sauce on a Martin's potato roll. Other good bets can be found at chef Joe Ng's RedFarm stand, like spicy beef wontons in a sesame-peppercorn broth ($5.95) or Peking-style duck buns with hoisin and scallions ($5.95). Track the status of your food on flatscreens overhead, or opt to be notified via text message. 845 Sixth Ave between 29th and 30th Sts (646-600-7140, foodparc.com)

Business lunch: The Red Cat
While this 12-year-old neighborhood fixture can get packed in the evenings, stroll in at noon for the same comforting fare at a lower price (entres clock in around $15, compared with $24 at dinner). The lunch list also has items you won't find after dark: sunny-side-up eggs over corned-beef hash and asparagus ($12) and a battered-cod sandwich with ginger slaw ($15). 227 Tenth Ave between 23rd and 24th Sts (212-242-1122, theredcat.com)

The creative banh mi at this Chelsea newcomer are inspired by the market food stands in Vietnam. Six variations on the sandwich branch out from the classic pork-and-pt combo. Options include the decadent banh mi thit kho ($8), filled with coconut-juice-braised pork belly and pickled bean sprouts, and the banh mi cha ca ($8), with dill- and-turmeric-marinated fish, both served on a nice crusty French baguette that holds up well in transit. 110 Ninth Ave between 17th and 18th Sts (212-414-2700, cobarestaurant.com)
