Australian hair-care brand Original & Mineral opens its first U.S. salon for cuts (men $90, women $140), color ($90–$305) and blowouts ($45). The company was started by hairstylists Jose Bryce Smith and Alan Buki, who were tired of getting hand irritations from chemical color. All of the house-label products are almost 100 percent natural—preservatives being the necessary 1 percent—and are free of ammonia, resorcinol and PPD, making them gentle on the hair and scalp. The industrial space features two washing stations, three cutting chairs and a communal wood table for socializing while your color sets. Watch vintage movies projected on a wall and catch up on international fashion magazines such as Muse, Love and Fantastic Man while sipping gratis fruit-infused water or prosecco. You’ll even get a quick complimentary hand massage and exfoliation using Aesop products. Take home salon-brand loot, including detoxifying shampoo ($31), vitamin-rich conditioner ($32) and texturizing spray ($24).
