Make plans for this weekend as Central Park SummerStage shows off its eclectic spirit, bringing two groundbreaking Israeli choreographers on Saturday, from 7pm to 10pm, to present the U.S. premieres of Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’s “Kef Kafim” and Nimrod Freed/Tami Dance Company's “PeepDance.”
On Sunday, from 3pm to 7pm, it’s legends of Blues and Ska, with Taj Mahal, showcasing a 40 year blues career spanning collaborations with Ry Cooder, Fats Domino, Etta James, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Danny Glover, and the Skatalites, offering their energetic reggae infused rock that’s made them the most famous collective of the Ska genre, with an opening set by Los Pinguos called by some the “South American version of The Beatles.”
