eBay Holiday Collective
In an effort to beef up its fashion cred, the online marketplace has partnered with seven top designers—Billy Reid, Chris Benz, Steven Alan, Tibi, Ruffian, Fallon and Jonathan Adler—to each create at least five affordable yet stylish holiday gifts. The resulting collection ($20–$100) spans men’s and women’s apparel, jewelry, travel accessories and home decor; it’s all available on eBay at Buy It Now prices that include free shipping. On our wish lists: Billy Reid neutral-colored selvage-canvas portfolio bags ($98), Fallon gold pyramid-stud earrings dripping with crystals and spikes ($58), Steven Alan leather zip-up camera cases ($95) and Tibi lace-detailed short-sleeve sweatshirts ($85). fashionvault.ebay.com. Available November 12, 2012.
Target + Neiman Marcus Holiday
Mass-market chain Target is the indisputable king of collaborations, and it has once again tweaked its winning formula, offering its most compelling mash-up yet. The Bull’s Eye partners with Neiman Marcus to tap 24 CFDA designers (such as Oscar de la Renta and Marc Jacobs, as well as emerging brands like Proenza Schouler and Altuzarra), who each created between one and three pieces. The collection includes more than 50 items ($8 –$500), ranging from clothing and home decor to electronic accessories, with most merch clocking in under $60. Although the line will be available online and in-store from both retailers, assume everything will sell out the minute it hits shelves. Target, locations throughout the city; visit target.com • neimanmarcus.com • Available December 1, 2012
Maison Martin Margiela for H&M
This French design house is the latest high-fashion label to partner with H&M, bringing its avant-garde aesthetic to the masses through a line of men’s and women’s clothing and accessories. The 45-item womenswear collection is filled with trompe l’oeil prints, and is complemented by 20 accessories. Plus, expect 30 new editions of classic Margiela styles for men. Locations throughout the city; visit hm.com. Available November 15, 2012.
Narciso Rodriguez for Kohl’s
Discount department store Kohl’s follows in the footsteps of its competitors by launching a collaboration with Narcisco Rodriguez. The line of women’s dresses, separates and outerwear ($30–$150) kicks off the retailer’s new DesigNation program, which sends well-known clothiers to cities around the world in a quest for inspiration. Istanbul was the muse for Rodriguez’s collection; elements of the Turkish city are reflected in items such as color-
blocked dresses and boxy magenta coats. Locations throughout the city; visit kohls.com. Available November 4, 2012.
Nicole Richie for Macy’s Impulse
TV-star-turned-fashion-designer Nicole Richie is the seventh big name to create a limited-edition collection for Macy’s trendy Impulse collection, joining the ranks of Alberta Ferretti, Matthew Williamson and Karl Lagerfeld. The 25-piece clothing line ($49–$129) is filled with the sort of ’70s-inspired touches—maxidresses, paisley prints, flowing silhouettes—that have become synonymous with Richie’s boho-glam style. Look for asymmetrical printed skirts ($49), embroidered blouses ($59) and satin-trimmed blazers with studded shoulders ($89). 151 W 34th St at Seventh Ave (212-695-4400, macys.com/impulse). Available September 12, 2012.
