Aesa + Electric Feathers

0 Love It
Some things seem made for each other—macaroni and cheese, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, and gin and tonic, to name a few. Another pair to add to the list is Aesa’s chunky jewelry and Electric Feathers’ flowing women’s apparel. Randi Mates, the brains behind Aesa, became pals with Electric Feathers designer Leana Zuniga after they met in Paris in 2008. They decided to join forces and open a design-savvy boutique that suits both of their downtown vibes. Pieces like caftan dresses with large belts ($760) and gauze genie pants are mostly one-size-fits-all and pair perfectly with agate triangle necklaces ($368) and thorny brass cuffs ($235) that Mates casts in wax. Many of Electric Feathers’ fabrics are hand-dyed or hand-printed, and a similar design aesthetic applies to the interior of the store, including walls polished with beeswax and covered with metallic bronze powders, and ceilings decked out with a leaf print made from oxidized Japanese metals.
