This indie bazaar made a name for itself when it first opened in 2003, selling unique vintage clothing, accessories and housewares crafted by Brooklyn artists. It expands on its success with a series of temporary shops inside Chelsea Market. Every week, a different crop of 25 to 30 merchants will hawk their goods. Vendors vary, but look for Shopshmata repurposed vintage clothing ($65–$285) and Astali eclectic jewelry ($46–$336), which integrates traditional materials with edgier found items such as snake vertebrae, buffalo teeth and salvaged bullet casings. Though most sellers appeal to women, men can snag Golly NYC nerdy-chic tees ($40) adorned with superheroes and 20th-century cult characters.
