Winner: Grast
This subterranean (you'll find it underground at the Port Authority bus terminal) streetwear shop brightens up its dark environs with crisp white floors, grass-green walls and floating shelves filled with neon wares. The store's main focus is graphic NYC-themed tees (printed with words and images like "Jazz and roll" for Greenwich Village and a pig for the Meatpacking District), and they're affordable at $20 a pop. Accessories come in the form of candy-colored rubber O'Clock watches ($36) with numberless faces, as sleek and simple as iPods. For a touch of old-school cool, pick up a pair of retro Marvel headphones, covered in images hyping X-Men, Captain America and other comics ($40). 625 Eighth Ave, unit 17 (212-244-4468, grastny.com). Mention TONY at checkout to receive 15 percent off all T-shirts and 10 percent off all other nonsale items through May 1.

Runner-up: S11 NYC
Cult denim fanatics will love the blinged-out selvage jeans at this diminutive menswear lair. S11 NYC is the official purveyor of Hong Kong brand RMC and specializes in thick pairs full of detail, like styles featuring horizontal stripes on the back pockets ($260) and shiny 14-karat-gold buttons ($300). While the elaborate pants can run upwards of $1,200, S11 also carries cheaper items (still full of flair): bold graphic tees with skull motifs ($60--$86), neon nylon backpacks that fold into tiny pouches ($75) and waterproof jackets in a print that evokes both military fatigues and tiger stripes ($320). 145 Orchard St at Rivington St (917-330-0016, selevengallery.com). Mention TONY to receive 20 percent off all purchases through May 1.
