Who she is: Farai Simoyi moved from her native Zimbabwe to London at age 10. After graduating from West Virginia University with a degree in fashion design, Simoyi honed her skills at Milan’s Nuova Accademia Belle Di Arti. Her Spring 2011 collection marks the debut of her own line.
Why we like her: Simoyi’s pieces certainly aren’t for wallflowers: The designer uses bright colors, asymmetrical hemlines and body-con silhouettes that are fit for bold women—not to mention those with curves, as evidenced by some of the bootylicious models used in the show.
About the collection: Lace-up leggings, splashy floral prints and super-high-waisted shorts were the cornerstones of the collection. Pieces like bra tops, jumpsuits and cape-style tops are right on trend.—Laura Lanz-Frolio
